How to prepare for your wax appointment

To ensure the best possible results and minimize discomfort, please follow these simple guidelines:

  • Hair Length: For optimal hair removal, hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). This typically means waiting 2-3 weeks after your last shave or 3-4 weeks after your last wax.

  • Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate the area to be waxed 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. This helps prevent ingrown hairs and allows for better hair removal.

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin handles waxing better.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Limit sun exposure to the area to be waxed for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Sunburned skin cannot be waxed.

  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointment to avoid irritation after waxing.

  • Communicate: Inform your esthetician about any skin sensitivities, allergies, or medications you are taking (especially retinoids or oral acne medications) as these can affect your skin's reaction to waxing.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is waxing painful?

Discomfort levels vary from person to person. While some sensation is normal as hair is removed from the root, our experienced estheticians use techniques to minimize discomfort. Regular waxing often leads to less pain over time as hair growth becomes finer.

How long do the results last?

Typically, results last between 3-6 weeks, depending on your individual hair growth cycle. Regular waxing can lead to finer, sparser hair growth over time, extending the time between appointments.

Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?

Yes, we use high-quality waxes formulated for sensitive skin. Please inform your esthetician if you have particularly sensitive skin so they can choose the most appropriate product for you.

Can I wax while pregnant?

Waxing is generally safe during pregnancy, but increased skin sensitivity due to hormonal changes may occur. Please consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

What should I do if I get ingrown hairs?

Gentle exfoliation and moisturizing are key to preventing ingrown hairs. If you do get them, avoid picking or squeezing, which can lead to scarring or infection. We can recommend specific products to help.
